Bridgeman Packer

Bridgeman Packer was definitely an experience for both the workshop and the show. The workshop itself was an experience I was not prepared for both physically and clothing. If I knew I was going into literally a dance workshop I would have had some athletic short at least. Other than that I enjoyed the experience of understanding how Bridgeman Packer practice and implicate the techniques that were taught that night. The duo brought a hybridization of old art and new art that combined this brilliant spectacle for us as a class to interact with. If anything out of the workshop I enjoyed was when the group used our one minute films to show us the next level of their performance style. In particular I enjoyed interacting with Jen’s video of the airplane and sky going by. Using the sky itself to bring this influence to act light as feather or act like it as best I could, in all honesty I did feel kind of silly. When it came to the show that Friday night I was going with mixed feelings and didn’t know how I was going to embrace the show. In the end of it all I really did enjoy the show. I did have some hesitations though when there was more skin that I was expecting, but I mean looking at the group using almost this found footage/ overlapping dance routines/ custom animation that they integrated flawlessly in the show. The skit/ routine that really intrigued me were when the two wearing the same dress and integrated the projectors. It threw me off when I saw the guy in the dress, but once I understood what they were trying to do I really did enjoy the routine. I really enjoyed this assignment even though it was not a typical film assignment. Observing the integration of film and dance was a sort of enjoyment to me since I originally was studying theater for my associates. The workshop brought back some fun memories and made me want more.
